Lackawanna Parole and Probation

Parole and probation are different legal statuses. State parole usually follows confinement under a PA DOC sentence. It permits a person to live outside prison while the maximum sentence continues under state supervision. County parole can follow a county jail sentence. Probation is imposed by a court and may follow jail or serve as the community-based sentence from the start. Ordinary Lackawanna County probation is not listed in the PA DOC inmate locator.

Check Lackawanna Post-Release Supervision

Start with the sentence, not a guess based on where the person lives. The PA DOC Inmate and Parolee Locator has a parolee side that can show a parole number, Release Date, county, district office, location, photo, and absconder indicator. That is the right public first step for state parole. A Lackawanna court sentence to county probation needs the UJS criminal docket and the county supervision office instead.

1. Search both MDJ and Common Pleas dockets to identify the sentence and later orders.
2. For a PA DOC sentence, search the parolee side by name, parole number, or other supported fields.
3. Read “Release Date” as release into parole, not the end of the sentence.
4. Use the official parole-office map to find the assigned district office shown in the record.
5. For county supervision, contact Lackawanna Adult Probation & Parole through current court channels.
6. Request an existing Board Action or agency discharge record if public tools do not settle the status.

A record describes status as of a given date. A person may have moved between offices, completed supervision, received a violation action, or entered another custody system after the last public update. Match the record to the correct individual and confirm changes with the agency.

Lackawanna Release Supervision Offices

The state and county routes do not share one public office. PA DOC's official parole-office map identifies the Scranton District Parole Office for state cases. The research does not preserve a street address because the live map is the current source. People released from PA DOC custody receive assigned-office and reporting instructions before release.

Do not use the state office to verify ordinary county probation. Likewise, a county docket does not replace a PA DOC Board Action. The sentence and custodian determine which office can give an authoritative response.

Lackawanna Parole Absconder Check

PA DOC maintains a separate parole absconder search that can be filtered to Lackawanna County. It is a narrow official check for people the department says are not reporting and whose whereabouts it seeks. It is not a complete list of everyone on parole. Absence from it proves neither compliance nor full discharge.

An absconder flag is an agency status, not a new conviction. The public should not confront or try to apprehend a listed person. Lackawanna Parole Board Actions

The Pennsylvania Parole Board decides state parole matters. Ordinary parole generally cannot begin before the judicial minimum under 61 Pa.C.S. § 6137. Reaching that minimum creates eligibility for consideration, not a right to release. The Board evaluates the offense, sentencing material, institutional conduct, recommendations, background, victim information, and other factors identified by law and policy.

No official public named-inmate hearing calendar or person-level results database was found. The official “Board Meetings” page is a calendar for Board meetings, not an individual prisoner's interview docket. Forms and procedures explain preliminary, detention, violation, and revocation hearings, but they are not searchable results. The individual decision is recorded in a Board Action.

A grant also does not prove physical release at that moment. Home-plan review, another detainer, processing, or later Board action may intervene. Confirm the actual exit through the parolee locator's Release Date, PA SAVIN, DOC evidence, or the institution's release record. When a Board Action is not otherwise available, a narrow request may be directed to the Pennsylvania Parole Board's open-records officer, subject to exemptions.

Lackawanna Parole Status Alerts

PA SAVIN combines county-jail, state-prison, and state-parole event notices. That cross-system coverage helps when a person leaves secure custody but remains under supervision. Register from a matching VINELink record and choose phone, text, email, or app notifications. For phone alerts, create a four-digit PIN and enter it with the pound key after hearing the message. Calls that are not acknowledged may repeat for roughly 24 to 48 hours.

An alert must be read precisely. Release means the reporting agency ended custody under its own definition. A transfer means custody continued elsewhere. A parole event may concern supervision rather than a new jail release. PA SAVIN is strongest before an expected event because official materials do not promise how long an old released result will remain searchable.

Lackawanna Supervision Discharge Records

Supervision ends through a formal agency or court record. A state parolee's public “Release Date” establishes release from prison into parole. It does not state that the person later completed the sentence. A Board Action may grant, deny, revoke, recalculate, rescind, or otherwise address parole. No official public person-level Board decision database was found, so a narrow Parole Board Right-to-Know request may be needed when the person or counsel cannot supply the record.

County probation ends through the court and county supervision process. Review the UJS docket for a discharge or later order, then ask the office that holds the supervision record when the public entry is not clear. A missing name in a locator can reflect scope, spelling, a system change, or completed supervision. It is not proof by itself.

Lackawanna Release Planning Team

The 2023-24 Lackawanna County Human Services Plan documents a monthly Action/Support Team involved in preparing individual releases. Participants include prison behavioral health, Scranton Counseling Center forensic staff, the Public Defender, an institutional parole officer, county drug-and-alcohol case management, and Outreach/Center for Community Resources. This is a local coordination process, not a public lookup tool.

The team shows why release and supervision can involve more than one office. A service plan, reporting instruction, court term, and custody discharge may all exist at once. None should be assumed from another person's case or from an old local statistic.

Scranton CCC Release Property

Scranton Community Corrections Center's resident handbook says that removing property from that facility requires a request. It also refers to facility paperwork for local administrative contacts. Those rules are specific to the state-operated center. They do not describe Lackawanna County Prison or GEO Scranton.

A move from community corrections does not always mean unconditional discharge. It can lead to parole in the community, another placement, a transfer, or return to secure custody. Confirm the movement through PA DOC, the assigned parole office, PA SAVIN, and the facility's existing record. Call the exact site for property instructions.

Lackawanna State Supervision Records

State parole records have separate custodians. Posted Board records hours are weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ask for a specific existing record, such as a Board Action or discharge document. Include enough information to distinguish the person and case, but avoid a broad demand for every file. Pennsylvania agencies generally issue an initial Right-to-Know response within five business days, and a lawful written extension may add time. Exempt material can be withheld or redacted on a record-specific basis. Keep the response.
